We most often use Unilock pavers which carry a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. As a Authorized Unilock Installer, if you have an issue with the pavers themselves at any time, simply let us know and we will work with Unilock to get that material replaced. Additionally, we build our patios to last and our craftsmanship warranty is 3 years. If you have a settling issue, a loose paver, or another craftsmanship issue just let us know and we will repair it at no cost.

A well built patio that uses high quality materials should have very little maintenance beyond cleaning and removal of the occasional weed. The sun and weather will breakdown the polymer in the polymeric sand over time. For this reason we recommend that every 4-5 years you have your patio professionally cleaned and re-sanded. You can also seal the patio at that time if you wish.

Usually it is not necessary to seal your pavers, some higher end pavers even have the sealer built in. If your pavers are in a location that will could have stains, such as a driveway, you may want to seal your pavers to make cleaning easier and to protect them from harsher elements such as road salt. Paver color does become more vibrant when the paver is wet, so some people will choose to have their pavers sealed in order to have that “wet look” at all times. The choice is yours and we are happy to assist should you want to add sealer to your project

The base is the most important step. We utilize a process called “open grade base.” We use #57 gravel (5-6” thick for a residential patio) as the compacted base, this creates a firm base that also drains properly. The screeding layer is a finer #9 gravel which is where things are levelled out for the pavers to be set. For the edge restraint, we use a fibrous cement product that prevents horizontal movement of the pavers. The advantage of this product is that it will not pop up in the freeze-thaw cycles like the traditional flexible edging with spikes.

There are many variables with each project; patio square footage, number of steps, elements such as seat walls, kitchens, fire pits, and structures as well as the overall site access all play a role in how long your project will take. Oh yeah, and the weather! Your designer will help you to understand expected timelines throughout the project.

Yes, we always do our best to plan around your availability. When your contract is signed, we will give you our best estimate of the start date and provide you access to track your expected start date while you wait. There are many variables in our work, not the least of which is weather, so sometimes we fall behind. Do not reschedule any plans though, we will work around you! If we need to wait until you return that is not a problem, we can always push back a little to accommodate your needs. While you do not need to be home during the day, we do prefer that you are in town while we work so that if you notice any issues or things that you would like to change, that we are able to do so quickly before additional work is done.

Our general policy is a 50% payment prior to work commencing and the balance due upon completion of the project. If you need an alternative payment plan, we are happy to try to accommodate you, so please talk to your designer. We accept payment in the form of checks, or you can pay by credit card through a Quickbooks link.
